ARE THE STORMS OF LIFE GETTING TO YOU
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
There are several observations that we can see in this passage of scripture:
1..The storms of life descend on the righteous and the unrighteous alike.
2..The person who builds his house on the Word of God has a solid foundation: Rock.
3..The person who does not build his house on the Word of God has a shaky foundation: Sand.
4..The storms come from every direction
Above: “The rains descended“
Below: “The flood came“
All sides: “The winds blew, and burst against the house.“
Conclusion:
If when you and I go through storms and struggles, we will take the time to HEAR and APPLY the Word of God to our lives we will stand up under the storm.
Those who refuse to LISTEN to and OBEY God’s Word will not stand up under the storms of life.
You and I can count on storms in life! Whether we survive will depend upon the foundation we lay in God’s Word: HEARING and APPLYING. The choice is ours.
