MODUS OPERANDI?
Our Modus Operandi In Business
OUR MODUS OPERANDI IN OUR DAILY LIVES, AND THE WAY THE HOLY SPIRIT DESIRES TO WORK IN AND THROUGH US ARE OFTEN THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF EACH OTHER.
In individual’s daily lives, often times, it is their wit, their persuasive abilities, their genius in manipulating and controlling circumstances, and their cleverness in creating certain impressions that spell “success” for them. Or so they seem to think. So often these individuals must have the preimenience or be noticed, or be the one who is number 1 in everything. It is often “look at me, look at what I am doing“! It seems they cant exist without having the spotlight on themselves.
When they try however to apply these same forces in the spiritual realm, NOTHING OF ETERNAL SIGNIFICANCE IS GOING TO HAPPEN.
Because MANY people are by nature CONTROLLERS, they find the freedom of the Spirit’s working difficult to relate to.
THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL NOT BE CONTROLLED OR MANIPULATED:
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
John 3:8
In similar fashion, Psalms 37 calls us to release our control and rest in Him:
Psalms 37: |
Our Natural Inclination:
Verse 3 – “Trust in the Lord… “
Rely upon our cleverness
Verse 4 – “Delight thyself in the Lord… “
Fret over circumstances
Verse 5 – “Commit thy way to the Lord… “
Engineer the next step |
Verse 7 – “Rest in the Lord… “ |
Grind our teeth over eventualities
Verse 34 – “Wait on the Lord… “ |
Rush ahead to clinch the deal, so no one else can get it or do it.
If we were truly depending upon God rather than ourselves, shouldn’t we also be applying the same elements of patience, waiting and resting… YES
Shouldn’t we apply The freedom of the Spirit’s leading, to our daily lives as we should be to the “serving the Lord?”….YES
In fact, the distinction between our mind set and our methods in our daily lives and serving the Lord would probably be indistinguishable.
After all, isn’t everything we do supposed to be a work of the Spirit of God?
How-be-it after seeing the attitude of some individuals, a person would think they know more than God.
