Seven Marks Of True Spirituality

1The desire to be holy rather than happy

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,  Phil 3:8

2. The desire to see the honor of God advanced through our life even if it means suffering temporary dishonor or loss

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;  Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body2 Cor 4:8-10

3. The desire to carry our cross

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of GodActs 20:24

4. The desire to see everything from God’s point of view

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understandingCol 1:9

5. The desire to die right rather than to live wrong

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.  Dan 3:16-18

6. The desire to see others advance at our expense

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake2 Cor 4:5

7. The practice of habitually making eternity-judgments instead of time-judgments

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal  2 Cor 4:18
