GOD’S LAW IS PERFECT
In Psalms chapter nineteen we see verses of scripture which speak of the nature, the benefits, and the value of God’s Law and Word. The five facets of this law are:
(1) THE LAW
This is a general term meaning and revealing God’s revealed will, which directs a right relationship with Him. The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. Psalms 19:7
(2) THE TESTIMONY
The Bible is God’s true Word, and it testifies of His character and His will. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 1 John 5:9 A study of His Will and His Character will make us very wise. (see verse 7)
(3) THE STATUTES
These statutes define rules concerning righteous living that are a joy to the Godly. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. Psalms 19:8
(4) THE COMMANDMENTS
This is God’s authoritative source of guiding light for you and I as genuine Christians as we seek His Way. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. Psalms 19:8 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18 The proper response to God’s commandments is the “Fear Of The Lord” which brings freedom from a life of sin. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. Psalms 19:9
(5) THE JUDGEMENTS
These are God’s Laws which govern social life, which leads to justice and righteousness. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Psalms 19:9-10
