LOVE THE LORD THY GOD
The thing that God requires from everyone who believe in Him and receive His salvation is a devoted love.
(1) ATTITUDE OF HEART
This kind of love that God requires is one that requires an attitude of heart where God is so valued and esteemed that we truly long for His Fellowship. A love so strong that we strive to obey Him, and sincerely care for His Honor and Will and Righteous standards here on earth. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matt 6:9-10
(2) WHOLEHEARTED LOVE
God’s love must be a wholehearted and dominating love. A love so inspired by His love to us that He gave His only begotten son for our sakes. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Our love is to be identical to the love expressed in His Word. Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Eph 5:1-2
(3) LOVE TO GOD INCLUDES:
(a) A personal attachment of allegiance and loyalty to Him.
(b) Faith as a firm , unswerving adherence to the One whom we are united by sonship.
(c) Faithfulness to our pledge and commitment to Him.
(d) Heartfelt devotion, expressed in our dedication to God’s righteous standards in the middle of a God-rejecting world.
(e) A desire for God’s presence and fellowship.
