WE OURSELVES GROAN

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Romans 8:23

Even though believers posses the Spirit of God, they still often groan inwardly, desiring their full redemption. This groaning is for two different reasons.

(1)  WE LIVE IN A SINFUL WORLD

We as believers are living in a very sinful world. As a result it grieves our spirits (or it should). And because of this we experience imperfection, pain, and sorrow. The groanings express and reveal the deep sorrow we feel at these circumstances. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:  If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. 2 Cor 5:2-3

(2)  LOOKING FOR COMPLETE REDEMPTION

As Believers we groan for the complete and full redemption of The Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit), that will be bestowed on us at the resurrection. We groan for the glory to be revealed and for the privileges of full sonship. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 2 Cor 5:4
