TREASURES IN EARTHEN VESSELS

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Cor 4:7

A Christian is an “Earthen Vessel” who at times experiences sadness, tears, afflictions, perplexities, weakness, sorrow, and fears. For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. 2 Cor 7:5  Still yet because of the “Heavenly Treasure” within us as Christians we do not have to be defeated. Christianity is not the removal of weakness, and neither is it the manifestation of divine power. Rather it is the manifestation of divine power through our human weakness.

(1)  MORE THAN CONQUERORS

The reason is very simple. In every affliction you and I may be more than conquerors by the power and the love of God.  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Romans 8:37

(2)  OPEN TO ABUNDANT GRACE

Our human weakness, troubles, afflictions, sufferings open us up to the abundant grace of Jesus Christ. This in turn allows the life of Jesus to be manifested in our bodies. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.  2 Cor 12:9,10
