UNITY OF THE FAITH
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Eph 4:13
Here in chapter four Paul is teaching us concerning “Unity of the spirit” Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 4:3 The unity of the faith is maintained and perfected by several things.
(1) NEW TESTAMENT FAITH MESSAGE
You and I should accept only the faith and message of the New Testament. The teachings of the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teacher’s. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Eph 4:11-12
(2) GROWING IN GRACE
Another way that you and I come into unity of the spirit is by growing in grace and advancing toward spiritual maturity. We must grow up in all aspects into Jesus Christ. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: Eph 4:15 We must also be filled with all the fullness of Christ and God. And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Eph 3:19
(3) NO LONGER CHILDREN
We must be no longer like children who accept every doctrine that comes down the thorough-fare. But we must have a knowledge of the truth by which to reject false teachings. That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. Eph 4:14-15
(4) SPEAKING THE TRUTH
We must hold and speak the whole truth of God (revealed truth) and scripture in love. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: Eph 4:15
(5) WALK UPRIGHTLY
We must also walk in “righteousness” and in “holiness” and be true in doing so. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Eph 4:24 (Eph 4:17-32)
