IF THE LORD WILL
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. James 4:15
In making goals and plans for the future, true believers will inquire of God concerning His will, and they will earnestly desire to do His will in any given situation.
(1) WE MUSt NOT ACT
We must not act independently like the rich young man And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Luke 12:16-21 But rather we must recognize that true happiness and usefulness and useful living are completely dependent on God and His will.
(2) THE PRINCIPLE
The princip[Le by which we should live is “If The Lord Will”. If our prayer is truly “Not My Will But Thine Be Done” Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:42, it is then that we have the assurance that our present and future are in the protective care of our Heavenly Father. But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. 1 Cor 4:19 And this will we do, if God permit. Heb 6:3
